52nd Members

Thousands of men passed through the ranks of the 52nd Battalion throughout its existence. There was the initial 40 officers and 1,032 other ranks that comprised the 52nd Battallion on its departure from Canada on November 23, 1915, the first and second reinforcing drafts that were sent to other battalions as well as a huge number of individuals that came into the 52nd Battalion from the various reserve battalions. This section is intended to provide detail on all members of the 52nd Battalion.  The rank given is the highest known.

The following lists also include data on those that died while serving with the 52nd Battalion. No distinction is made between battle casualties or other deaths.

The data is compiled from a cross-reference of three primary sources: 1) 'In the Face of Danger' by LtCol G F Stanley, 2) The attestation papers from Library and Archives Canada, Soldiers of the First World War Webpage, and 3) the Veterans Affairs Canada, Canadian Virtual War Memorial Webpage.
